Youth Empowered Towards Independence (YETI) is a not-for-profit youth service based in Cairns Far North Queensland. YETI provides drug and alcohol treatment, adolescent-focused family support and practical assistance to young people who might be struggling to make positive connections with family, school, jobs and the community. YETI has 70 staff and is a friendly workplace that embraces cultural and gender diversity and equality.

As a Case Manager, you will work as part of a supportive team providing therapeutic case management, crisis intervention and outreach services to vulnerable young people. Clients often present with complex needs, trauma histories and high-risk behaviours. This role can be available on a Part-time basis.

Using a range of activity-based, therapeutic and outreach interventions, you will motivate, empower and support young people to:

- Reduce, cease, or adopt safer approaches to AOD use

- Address barriers related to housing, education, training and employment

- Reduce offending behaviours and/or meet statutory order requirements

- Build and maintain positive family and personal relationships, community connections, health and wellbeing

- Strengthen life skills, social engagement, independence and self-reliance

Selection Criteria

- Demonstrated experience providing assessment, case management, crisis intervention and outreach support to vulnerable young people, using activity-based and therapeutic approaches





- Solid understanding of best practice standards, harm minimisation, and empowerment frameworks

- Ability to analyse complex issues and deliver interventions that respect a young person's strengths, capabilities and integrity in an empathetic, non-judgmental way

- Highly developed de-escalation and co-regulation skills, with experience supporting young people exhibiting challenging behaviours

- Competent in the Microsoft suite, online platforms and client databases (SRS/Infoxchange experience highly regarded)

- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and the diverse issues impacting First Nations young people

Requirements

- Tertiary and/or vocational qualifications in a relevant discipline

- Minimum 2 years' experience working with vulnerable or disadvantaged young people within the community services sector

- Eligibility for a Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or exemption

- Current, unrestricted Queensland driver's licence

- Australian citizenship or permanent residency status is required for this position
