APS6 Business Analysts - Multiple Positions

Location: Melbourne, VIC; Brisbane, QLD; Canberra, ACT; other locations considered
Contract: Labour-hire contract to 30 June 2027, possible extension options available for the right candidate
Pay: $80 - $110 p/h including super (negotiable)
Work type: Full-time
Work arrangement: Hybrid, with specific arrangements agreed with your supervisor on a case-by-case basis
Clearance: Must hold a current Baseline clearance or above

About the Role
This full-time APS6 Business Analyst role supports a major child support transformation with our Federal Government client. You will help turn complex policy, ICT and operational inputs into clear, practical requirements.

The work improves payment compliance and strengthens support for vulnerable families. You will work with teams across the agency to clarify needs, manage competing priorities and produce materials people can understand and use.
You will suit this role if you are a structured BA who can handle ambiguity, facilitate difficult conversations and keep requirements clear, prioritised, traceable and testable.

What You'll Be Doing

- Facilitate workshops with policy, ICT and operational stakeholders
- Elicit, document, prioritise and validate business requirements
- Translate technical information into plain English
- Analyse current state processes, rules, constraints and pain points
- Identify gaps, impacts, dependencies and sequencing risks
- Produce models,



process maps and analysis artefacts
- Define scope boundaries and support risk assessment
- Assess change requests and prepare practical recommendations
- Coordinate verification and validation activities
- Support quality assurance, defect triage and implementation planning

What You Bring (Essential Criteria)

- You've led BA work on medium-complexity government, service delivery or digital initiatives
- You can facilitate elicitation with low engagement, incomplete information or conflicting inputs
- You've managed requirements from discovery through validation and change control
- You can write explicit, prioritised, traceable and testable requirements
- You've analysed current state processes, business rules, gaps and improvement opportunities
- You can explain complex technical concepts in plain English for diverse audiences
- You're an Australian citizen
- You must hold a current Baseline clearance or above

Nice to Have (Desirable Criteria)

- Familiarity with Commonwealth service delivery writing style guides
- Experience in child support, welfare, payments, compliance or family and social services
- Experience working across policy, ICT and operations teams
- Experience supporting QA, defect triage, verification or validation activities
