We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented General Accountant to join our Finance team and support the organisation’s financial management, reporting, compliance and continuous improvement functions.

This is a broad accounting role suited to someone who enjoys variety, accuracy, problem-solving and working closely with operational teams.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the General Accountant will support the day-to-day and month-end finance functions across the organisation. The role will assist with financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, cash flow monitoring, audit support, internal controls, and process improvement.

The position will also oversee key transaction functions, including Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, ensuring accurate billing, supplier payments, reconciliations and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

· Assist with monthly management reporting and financial analysis.

· Support annual financial statements and statutory reporting requirements.

· Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments, adjustments and balance sheet reconciliations.

· Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting.

· Monitor financial performance against budget and investigate variances.

· Support internal and external audit processes.

· Manage Accounts Receivable across residents, clients, customers and funding bodies.

· Manage Accounts Payable, including supplier invoices, payments and reconciliations.

· Reconcile operational systems, customer accounts, supplier accounts and the general ledger.

· Support improvements to finance systems, reporting processes and internal controls.

· Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

About You





You will be a reliable and proactive finance professional with strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn. You will enjoy working in a busy environment where accuracy, deadlines and communication matter.

Essential Requirements

· Bachelor degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.

· Good organisational and time management skills.

· Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

· Willingness to learn and develop professional accounting knowledge and skills.

· Initiative and willingness to adopt new systems, technologies and digital tools.

Desirable

· Previous experience in accounting, finance or administration.

· Experience in aged care, health care, community services or not-for-profit sectors.

· CPA or CA studies commenced, or interest in pursuing skilled accounting qualifications.

· Experience identifying process improvement opportunities.
