About the Role

Are you an experienced Mechanical Fitter who has had enough of FIFO rosters, extended periods away and the mining lifestyle? This is an opportunity to bring your industrial maintenance experience home to Perth and join a large, established food‑manufacturing operation in North Fremantle.

The business is seeking a dependable and experienced tradesperson who wants stability, permanent employment and the chance to become a long‑term member of its maintenance team. For the right person, this could be the role you remain in through to retirement.

You will work on industrial processing, conveying, packaging and materials‑handling equipment within an established manufacturing site—and come home after every shift. The role is Monday to Friday, 6 am – 2 pm. You will be the sole fitter on site, so it is best suited to an experienced person. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team that includes Maintenance Engineers, Supervisors, Planners, Fitters, Electricians and operational support staff.

Responsibilities

- Carrying out planned and preventative mechanical maintenance
- Diagnosing and repairing breakdowns across production and packaging equipment
- Maintaining conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, motors and pneumatic systems
- Completing mechanical repairs, component replacements and equipment adjustments
- Supporting production teams to minimise downtime
- Identifying recurring faults and recommending practical improvements
- Participating in shutdown and scheduled maintenance activities
- Recording completed work through the site maintenance system




- Maintaining a clean and safe work area
- Following food‑manufacturing, safety and hygiene procedures
- Working closely with electricians, operators, supervisors and other maintenance personnel

Qualifications

To be considered, you will ideally have:

- A recognised Mechanical Fitter, Fitter and Turner or equivalent trade qualification
- Previous experience maintaining industrial production or processing equipment
- Strong mechanical fault‑finding and breakdown experience
- Experience with conveyors, bearings, gearboxes, pumps, pneumatics and hydraulics
- A practical and reliable approach to maintenance
- A strong commitment to workplace safety
- The ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team
- Good communication and record‑keeping skills
- The flexibility to work the required roster and participate in scheduled maintenance activities

Experience within food production, flour milling, grain handling, packaging, manufacturing or another high‑volume processing environment would be highly regarded. Applicants with backgrounds in mining, fixed plant, heavy industry and similar maintenance are strongly encouraged to apply.
