Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Rigger role based in Sydney, NSW. The Rigger will be responsible for safely lifting, positioning, and securing steel components on structural projects, including commercial, high-rise, and industrial sites.
Day-to-day tasks include interpreting lifting plans and drawings, selecting and inspecting rigging equipment, coordinating with crane operators and site supervisors, and ensuring loads are moved and set out accurately. The role involves working closely with welders, boilermakers, and other trades,
conducting pre-lift safety checks, and maintaining compliance with OH&S; requirements and company safety procedures. The Rigger will also assist in basic steel fabrication and installation activities as required, contributing to efficient and safe project delivery.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in rigging operations, including safe lifting, positioning, and securing of structural steel components.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, lift plans, and site set-out documentation.
- Strong understanding of OH&S; requirements, safe work practices, and use of personal protective equipment.
- Competence in using rigging gear (slings, shackles, chains, spreader bars) and inspecting equipment for safety and compliance.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills for coordinating with crane operators, supervisors, and other site personnel.
- Positive physical fitness, ability to work at heights and in varying outdoor conditions, and consistent attention to detail.
- Relevant rigging certification (e.g., High Risk Work Licence for dogging/rigging) and white card (construction induction) required or strongly preferred.
- Experience in structural steel erection, basic welding or fabrication skills, and prior work on commercial or industrial construction sites is advantageous.
