About the opportunity
We are currently seeking experienced Rope Access Mechanical Fitters – IRATA Level 1, 2 and 3 for an upcoming major iron ore processing plant shutdown in the Pilbara, WA. FIFO from Perth.
- Allocation dates between 08 September – 19 September 2026
- All onboarding requirements must be completed by 31 August 2026
- FIFO from Perth – Perth POH only
- Hourly rate ranging between $71.00 – $90.00 per hour + 15% nightshift uplift + 2 hours paid travel time (dependant on rope access level and trade experience)
- Upon completion you will join our ad-hoc pool for further shut allocations across RTIO sites
- Dates are currently estimated and subject to change, pending final confirmation from the client.

About you
You're a safety-minded, team-focused tradesperson who takes pride in quality workmanship and contributing to a strong site culture.
You'll bring
- Demonstrated Rope Access Mechanical Fitter experience across mining, resources, shutdowns or heavy industry
- Full Australian work rights – passport, birth certificate, citizenship certificate, or valid work visa
- Hold the following Nationally Accredited Qualifications:
- IRATA Level 1, 2 or 3 certification & Logbook - Mandatory
- Certificate III – Engineering (Mechanical Trade)
- Working at Heights (3 years validity)
- Confined Space Entry (3 years validity)
- Fire Training Qualification (4 years validity)
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence/Photo ID
- Construction White/Blue Card
- Previously Inducted Rio Tinto candidates are highly desirable
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment, including drug and alcohol screening
- Genuine commitment to safety – you follow procedures, wear your PPE properly, and speak up when something doesn't look right
- Team player who backs up your crew, communicates well, and helps maintain a positive site culture
