About the Role:

Reporting to senior leadership, the Safety Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and continually improving the company’s Work Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Management Systems.

This is a hands-on, site-focused role supporting commercial and residential construction projects. You will work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, employees, subcontractors, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, company procedures, project requirements, and industry standards.

You will provide practical WHSEQ advice and leadership while driving continuous improvement across safety, environmental compliance, quality assurance, and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments across construction projects.
- Identify workplace risks and support project teams in implementing effective safety controls.
- Review SWMS, risk assessments, and site-specific safety documentation.
- Investigate incidents, injuries, and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and closed out.
- Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety training to employees and subcontractors.




- Provide practical WHS advice and support to Project Managers, Site Managers, employees, and subcontractors.
- Monitor subcontractor compliance with company procedures, project requirements, and relevant WHS legislation.
- Maintain accurate safety records, registers, reports, and compliance documentation.
- Support the ongoing development and continuous improvement of the company’s WHS Management System.
- Promote a proactive and positive safety culture across all project sites.
- Liaise with clients, principal contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders regarding safety matters.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

- A Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
- A current Construction Industry White Card.
- A minimum of three years’ safety experience within the construction industry, ideally across commercial building projects.
- Strong knowledge of NSW WHS legislation, regulations, and Codes of Practice.
- Demonstrated experience conducting site inspections, audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
- Experience reviewing SWMS, safety documentation, quality plans, ITPs, and project compliance records.
- A strong understanding of construction quality requirements, Australian Standards, and quality assurance processes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence people at all levels.
- The ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and competing priorities.
- A current driver’s licence.
