About the Ngaanyatjarra Council
Welcome to Ngaanyatjarra Lands, a vibrant tapestry of culture and community nestled within the vast beauty of the Australian desert. Home to approximately 2000 Yarnangu (Ngaanyatjarra people) across 11 unique communities, our council is dedicated to preserving and celebrating our rich heritage spanning over 10,000 years and 250,000 square kilometres.
Established in 1981, the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group (NCG) represents the interests of the Ngaanyatjarra People across the 11 communities in the Central Desert region of Western Australia. Employing in excess of 450 people, NCG provides a wide range of services, including health, utilities, construction, employment, community development, shops, roadhouses, art centres and land services. It is one of the largest and most successful Indigenous organisations in the country.

The Opportunity
This role offers a unique opportunity to join the Ngaanyatjarra Council team in remote WA, where your work will directly contribute to the well-being and development of local communities. As Store Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing the daily operations of the community store, ensuring efficient management of sales, stock, meal preparation, and facility maintenance. You’ll be responsible for leading and coordinating the team, ensuring high standards of service, and upholding our commitment to supporting the local community.

About You
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Store Manager with a strong background in retail, hospitality, or operations, who is eager to make a positive impact within a community setting. With your well-developed organisational skills and attention to detail, you will excel in overseeing daily operations, from managing sales and stock control to ensuring high standards of hygiene and meal preparation. Your leadership skills will be essential in guiding the team and maintaining a smooth, efficient roadhouse operation.
Your ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively with staff, and maintain a positive work environment will be key to upholding excellent service standards. Additionally, you will be adaptable and responsive, with a strong understanding of the importance of cultural sensitivity, ensuring that the needs of the community are met with respect and professionalism.
A current driver’s license and experience with maintenance equipment will also be highly valued as you contribute to the maintenance of the roadhouse’s facilities.
