We are seeking an experienced and capable Financial Accountant to join a high performing team, based in Wangara on a 6-month contract, supporting the Head of Finance during a key period of transition and project activity.
This role has been created to provide dedicated support across financial accounting, reporting and finance improvement initiatives. It’s an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accountant who enjoys working in a practical, solutions-focused environment.
The role
Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will play an important role in supporting the finance function across month-end, compliance, reporting and operational finance activities. You’ll also contribute to project work aimed at improving controls, accuracy and overall finance processes.
The duties
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the month-end close process, including the preparation and posting of journals
- Completing general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure the integrity of financial information
- Managing daily cash reporting, bank reconciliations and payment processing activities
- Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis to support business performance and planning
- Maintaining fixed asset records
- Preparing monthly Business Activity Statements (BAS), including GST and PAYG
- Assisting with statutory reporting,
audit preparation and broader compliance obligations
- Providing support across day-to-day finance operations
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and controls
- Working on projects to improve reporting accuracy, strengthen controls and enhance finance processes
The person
To succeed in this role, you’ll be a capable and commercially minded finance professional with a solid background in financial accounting and reporting. You’ll hold a CA or CPA qualification and bring at least three years’ experience in a similar accounting or finance role, with strong technical skills across month-end, reconciliations and financial reporting. Experienced in MYOB and Excel you will have the confidence to work across complex financial data, analysis and reporting requirements.
