Description
We are seeking an outstanding candidate for a PhD scholarship for a PhD Project entitled: "Micro-architectural characterisation of zirconia dental crowns". This exciting project is part of an NHMRC-funded project and a partnership between Flinders University, Adelaide University and The University of Queensland.
The PhD student at Flinders University will interact with the other project partners and perform the assessment of additively manufactured zirconia dental crowns, by using micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) imaging, under the supervision of Associate Professor Egon Perilli.
Benefits
- Annual stipend valued at $36,061 per annum (2026 rate) tax free, indexed annually
- Duration: Up to 3.5 years full-time
- Payment term: Paid Fortnightly
- A Research Training Program Fee Offset Scholarship to cover tuition fees for Australian Citizens, NZ Citizens and Permanent Residents.
- A fee waiver scholarship may be available for international students. International students who are not in receipt of a fee waiver scholarship will be required to pay the normal tuition fees
Eligibility
To be eligible for the award of this scholarship a student must:
- Be an Australian citizen; or Recent Zealand citizens; or have been granted permanent resident status; or are an international student; and
- Meet PhD admission requirements including: have an Australian Honours degree Class 1 or 2A or equivalent qualification (at least AQF Level 8), including a research component of at least 6 months’ full-time study achieving Distinction (75%) OR including evidence of equivalent research experience, such as a substantial first-author refereed publication or track record as an investigator on a competitive grant; and
- Be available to commence as a full-time PhD student at Flinders University by November, 2026

If you are successful in being awarded the scholarship, you will also need to apply and be accepted for admission to a relevant PhD program at Flinders University.
It is desirable for applicants to have a disciplinary background or experience in the area of imaging, materials characterisation, physics, engineering, chemistry, mathematics, computer science, advanced manufacturing, or related fields.
