About the Role:
Mater Dei College has the opportunity for a full-time, temporary Science (Psychology) Teacher to become an integral part of the College’s Science Department, commencing 1 January 2027 as a leave cover until 31 December 2027.
We are seeking a vibrant, passionate, and confident individual who is committed to helping our students reach their full potential.
The Science (Psychology) Teacher will be responsible for a variety of tasks within the Science Learning Area that are inclusive of, but not limited to:
- Implementing effective teaching strategies to engage and challenge students of varying abilities to achieve specific learning outcomes.
- Fostering a stimulating, encouraging and inclusive classroom environment designed to support student growth.
- Deliver an engaging Science (Psychology) curriculum, supporting students to develop critical thinking, and the ability to apply psychological theories to real-world contexts, while fostering ethical understanding and evidence-based decision-making.
- Planning and programming for classes within the Science Learning Area to promote learning and involvement.
- Assessing the performance of students in accordance with College procedures and where required, maintaining contact with parents regarding the performance and wellbeing of students.
- Meeting the deadlines set by the Head of Learning Area and College Executive.
About You:
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism whilst supporting the Catholic ethos and values of the College.
You will:
- Have the ability to teach across all year levels (Years 7–12).
- Hold a tertiary qualification in Secondary Education, preferably with a specialisation in Science/ Psychology.
- Be committed to creating engaging, inclusive, and high-quality learning experiences that cater to a range of student abilities.
- Show strong organisational and interpersonal skills,
with the capacity to collaborate with colleagues.
- Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
- Be dedicated to ongoing qualified growth.
- Actively support and contribute to the co-curricular life of the College.
