Team Lead | Plantrite | Bullsbrook WA

Plantrite is WA's native plant specialist. From our Bullsbrook nursery we grow Australian native plants for revegetation, rehabilitation and landscape projects across the state — species found nowhere else on earth. We think of ourselves as custodians of that flora: we grow it with craft, so it thrives once it leaves us. Thirty years of specialist knowledge goes into every tray, and we take real pride in it.

The role

This is a hands-on, working Team Leader role — you're on the floor every day, not behind a desk. You'll allocate the day's work, run the morning toolbox talk, train people on the job, and make sure the work leaving your area meets our standard.

Over time the role rotates across the different parts of the nursery — production, propagation, growing and dispatch — so you build a genuine, well-rounded understanding of how the place runs. It also includes a share of a rotating weekend watering roster.

You don't need to know every area on day one. You need to be someone who picks things up, follows through, and holds the line on quality.

What we're looking for

We're recruiting for character first. If you've led a team, held people to a standard, and know how to have a direct, honest conversation, we want to hear from you — whatever industry you're coming from. Horticulture experience is a bonus, not a requirement: the craft can be taught, and we'll teach it. What we can't teach is reliability, initiative, and the instinct to take ownership of what's in front of you.

You'll likely bring:

- Experience leading or supervising a team, and the confidence to hold people accountable

- A clear, direct communication style — you can instruct a diverse team and run a toolbox talk

- Reliability and a hands-on work ethic — you follow through without being chased

- A current First Aid certificate, or willingness to obtain one within 3 months

Desirable, but genuinely not essential: nursery, horticultural, agricultural or production experience; ChemCert accreditation; Certificate III in Horticulture or equivalent.

What you'll get

- Meaningful work — you'll help grow the plants that bring WA's landscapes back to life

- A real investment in you as a leader: we're building a high-feedback, coaching culture and run a structured leadership-development program for our team leads

- The chance to learn a genuine trade from people who've done it for thirty years

- A stable, permanent, local role

- $38.75 per hour, above the Nursery Award, with explicit progression as we grow our leadership team

How we work — our values

We hold each other to four things:

Ownership — if it's in front of you, it's yours.

Integrity — we do the right thing when no one's watching.

Craft — we know what good looks like and hold that standard every day.

Initiative — we act, we don't wait to be told.

If that's already how you work, you'll fit right in.

The detail

- Full-time, permanent position

- $38.75 per hour — above award

- Based at our Bullsbrook nursery

- Includes a rotating weekend watering roster

How to apply

All applications via Seek Website with a short cover note. Tell us about a time you held a standard when it would have been easier not to.
