The Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Kubernetes Infrastructure Engineer to support secure, resilient and scalable infrastructure services in a complex Defence environment. This role will focuson designing and deploying Kubernetes clusters, developing infrastructure-as-code templates and automation scripts, integrating containerised workloads, and supporting cyber-focused perational capability. The role will work closely with infrastructure, application and cyber operations teams to deliver fit-for-purpose platforms aligned to Defence standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, deploy and support Kubernetes clusters for secure, mission-focused digital services.Develop infrastructure-as-code templates and automation scripts to support container orchestration and repeatable platform deployments. Integrate containerised workloads with supporting infrastructure, applications, networks and security services.Ensure deployments are secure, resilient, scalable and aligned to relevant Defence standards and operational requirements.Manage and support physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure that underpins digital services. Collaborate with application, infrastructure and cyber operations teams to support delivery outcomes.Document deployment architecture, operational procedures, automation patterns and handover materials.Apply container security practices and workload management controls across Kubernetes environments.Contribute to operational readiness,



troubleshooting and continuous improvement of containerised platforms.
About You You are a senior infrastructure engineer with strong hands-on experience in Kubernetes, container orchestration and infrastructure automation. You are confident working in secure, operationally sensitive environments and can deliver robust platform solutions that support cyber,application and infrastructure teams. You bring a practical engineering mindset, solid documentation skills and the ability to work collaboratively across Commonwealth delivery environments.
Essential CriteriaDemonstrated experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration in complex infrastructure environments. Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible.Strong understanding of container security, workload management and secure platform deployment practices.Experience integrating containerised workloads with supporting infrastructure, networking,applications and security services.Ability to work collaboratively within Commonwealth or Defence delivery teams and communicate effectively with technical stakeholders.Must be an Australian citizen and hold a current AGSVA NV1 security clearance.
Desirable CriteriaExperience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform.Familiarity with cyber security operations, threat hunting environments or secure operational platforms.
