We are looking for a Metallurgist/Process Engineer to assist in the development, optimisation and implementation of process solutions for mineral processing facilities. The role involves assisting with process design, mass and water balances, process simulations, equipment selection, and feasibility studies while contributing to efficient, practical and sustainable engineering solutions.
Working alongside experienced process engineers and multidisciplinary teams, you will gain exposure to projects across all stages of the project lifecycle, from concept and feasibility studies through detailed design, commissioning and plant optimisation. Occasional site work may be required to support construction, commissioning and operational improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare process design information including Process Design Criteria, Process Flowsheet development, Piping and Instrument Diagrams, and other process design deliverables.
- Work with modelling software to develop process designs and mass, water and energy balance models.
- Review designs, calculations and study documents where delegated.
- Liaise with specialists, consultants and subcontractors in relation to hydrometallurgy, pyrometallurgy, and other process‑specific design elements.
- Support project scoping from the initial phases of testwork, process design and interpretation, through to mass and energy balances and detailed equipment specifications.
- Assist in the design of modular and standardised engineering solutions.
- Ensure design products are delivered in accordance with the project budget and schedule.
- Ensure designs are fit for purpose and consider all aspects including cost, constructability, operability and maintainability.
- Provide input into project schedules and budgets.
- Assist with commissioning activities, including planning, coordination and administration.
Qualifications
- A degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Process or Chemical Engineering.
- 2–5 years of industrial experience, preferably with experience at a metallurgical processing plant.
