An established and growing accounting firm is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team in Darwin. This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with clients, delivering high-quality accounting and taxation services, and mentoring junior team members within a collaborative and qualified environment.
You will play a key role in managing a diverse client portfolio while supporting the continued growth of the business through strong client service, technical expertise, and operational improvement initiatives.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for delivering accounting, taxation, compliance, and advisory services to a broad range of clients while ensuring exceptional client outcomes and maintaining high professional standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and reviewing Financial Statements and Income Tax Returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, SMSFs, and individuals
- Providing taxation and business advisory services to clients across various industries
- Managing client relationships and acting as a trusted advisor
- Conducting technical reviews and providing guidance and mentoring to junior accountants
- Ensuring compliance obligations and statutory deadlines are met accurately and efficiently
- Contributing to workflow management and continuous process improvement initiatives
- Supporting staff development and assisting with performance and career progression conversations
- Working closely with the wider team to improve service delivery and operational efficiency
- Supporting the development and integration of offshore accounting and bookkeeping resources
- Identifying opportunities to strengthen and expand client relationships
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Senior Accountant within public practice
- Strong knowledge of Australian taxation legislation, accounting principles, and compliance requirements
- Experience preparing and reviewing Financial Statements and Income Tax Returns across multiple entity structures
- Excellent communication and client relationship management skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Proven ability to mentor and support junior team members
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with accounting software including Xero, MYOB, Active Workpapers, and Ledger & Reporting (desirable)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business, or a related field
- CA or CPA qualification, or currently working towards completion (desirable)
