We have a team of dedicated Psychiatrists, Medical, Nursing, Allied and Administrative staff who provide expert care in the management and treatment of all acute mental health disorders.

Trauma Program:

The Currumbin Clinic Trauma Program is designed for the treatment of workplace related PTSD (such as that seen in essential services including Veterans and Emergency Services). It includes Phase 1 (resourcing and stabilization) and Phase 2 (intensive EMDR), both offered through closed-group inpatient stays. It also includes Day Programs to support with consolidation and generalisation of learnings. The program currently runs quarterly, with scope to increase this based on referrals. Psychologist’s involved in this program will run PTSD specific groups, conduct individual sessions (assessment and EMDR depending on Phase 1 or Phase 2), write comprehensive reports with recommendations, and liaise with the MDT.

About the Role:

We are currently recruiting for 2 positions, both involved in our Currumbin Clinic Trauma Program

Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist:

- Be part of a specialist PTSD Trauma Program when running throughout the year. This includes facilitating trauma based and trauma informed group therapy, 1:1 psychological sessions and report writing.

- When the trauma program is not running, you will be facilitating a range of evidence-based group therapy sessions for inpatients and day patients at the hospital.

- Share expert knowledge on the provision of psychological services and trauma within the diverse Allied Health team and hospital.

- Work collaboratively with team members including Social Workers, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Nursing staff, and Treating Psychiatrists

- Involvement in development of new services in line with the growth of Currumbin Clinic





- Work within a large and diverse Allied Health team with a strong positive team culture

Trauma Co-Ordinator:

- The trauma co-ordinator role with include both clinical and operational responsibilities.

- Be a part of a specialist PTSD Trauma Program when running throughout the year. This includes facilitating trauma based and trauma informed group therapy, 1:1 psychological sessions and report writing.

- When the trauma program is not running, you will be facilitating a range of evidence-based group therapy sessions for inpatients and day patients at the hospital.

- Operationally, you will work closely with the Allied Health Manager to ensure the smooth running of the program. This includes co-ordination of referrals and patients, quality improvement and development of the program, and leading the trauma committee MDT’s. Building and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders will be an important part of the role, meaning that robust verbal and written communication is essential.

- Given the dual function (clinical and operational) of the role, strong time management skills are also essential.

- Share expert knowledge on the provision of psychological services and trauma within the diverse Allied Health team and hospital.

- Work collaboratively with team members including Social Workers, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Nursing staff, and Treating Psychiatrists

- Involvement in development of current services in line with the growth of Currumbin Clinic

- Work within a large and diverse Allied Health team with a strong positive team culture

Essential Criteria and Qualifications:

- Registration as a Psychologist (and endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist if relevant) with AHPRA.

- Minimum 3 years’ experience in mental health (may include post-graduate training)

- Experience in assessment and treatment of PTSD and Complex PTSD

- Excellent time management skills and ability to work efficiently within a fast-paced workplace

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.





- Ability to take initiative and work autonomously within a team.

- Be adaptive, flexible, and self-motivated in your approach, sometimes needing to change group session plans on the day to support your team.

- All employees are required to complete and maintain their mandatory education and competencies in accordance with Currumbin Clinic policies and procedures.

- Experience in working with evidence-based modalities such as CBT, ACT, and DBT.

- Experience and training in the provision of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) preferred.

- Availability:

- Clinical Psychologist/Psychologist: Ideally 3 days and must include Thursday and Friday

- Trauma Co-Ordinator: Must be available at least 3 days and must be available Wednesday’s.

Desirable Experience:

- Experience working with clients presenting with severe and persistent mental health issues and complex needs.

- Experience working in a hospital setting where working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team is valued. Private Psychiatric Hospital experience well regarded.

- Experience in the provision of group therapy with adults preferred.

- Experience in working with First Responders or Veterans preferred.

- Experience in working with AODs preferred.

Vaccination Preventable Disease:

It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment:

• Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)

• Varicella (chicken pox)

• Pertussis (whooping cough), Diphtheria and Tetanus

• Hepatitis B + Serology to confirm immunity

You must be able to provide serology evidence and a VPD form for the above-mentioned vaccinations and will be asked by the recruiting manager to supply this evidence if you are the preferred candidate for the role. Please note you are not susceptible to the VPD's listed in the role description.
