Cairns Rainforest Estate is busy creating Far North Queensland's newest eco-tourism experience, set to welcome guests later in 2026. Nestled within 160 acres of private rainforest in Kuranda, our estate will offer exclusive, small-group, guided rainforest walks and a unique tropical fruit orchard experience, showcasing the beauty and biodiversity of the Wet Tropics.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Grounds Person to join our small, friendly team and play an important role in preparing and maintaining this exciting new destination.

About the Role

This is a hands-on, full-time position responsible for the presentation and maintenance of the property, ensuring our grounds, walking trails, tropical fruit orchard and visitor facilities remain safe, attractive and well maintained.

Your responsibilities will include:

- General grounds maintenance across the estate

- Mowing, whipper snipping and vegetation management Maintenance and upkeep of rainforest walking trails

- Contribute to the ongoing care, maintenance and productivity of the estate’s established tropical fruit orchard

- Operation of tractors and other grounds maintenance equipment

- Safe use of chainsaws for minor tree and trail maintenance

- General repairs and property maintenance

- Assisting with the preparation and ongoing development of visitor facilities





- Working safely while helping maintain a high standard of presentation across the estate

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in their work and is happy to roll up their sleeves.

You will ideally have:

- Experience operating zero-turn mowers, whipper snippers, chainsaws and tractors

- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety

- Practical, hands-on problem-solving skills

- The ability to work independently and as part of a small, dedicated team

- A willingness to think outside the box, identify opportunities for continual improvement, and contribute ideas that enhance the property, visitor experience and operational efficiency

- Good physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual work in a tropical environment

- A current manual driver's licence (essential)

- Chainsaw competency and tractor experience will be highly regarded
