Opportunity to join a Security or Defence consultancy delivering procurement and commercial advisory services to a Federal Government client in Canberra
Your current companyThis established consultancy provides specialist procurement, commercial and business advisory services across the Federal Government and national security sectors. Due to ongoing project demand, they are seeking an experienced Senior Procurement & Contract Advisor to support a major government client delivering critical procurement and contract management outcomes.
Your new roleWorking as part of a high-performing consulting team, you will be embedded within a government client environment, providing procurement and commercial expertise across a broad range of procurements, contracts and business initiatives. You will work closely with senior stakeholders to deliver compliant, value-for-money outcomes while ensuring adherence to Commonwealth procurement frameworks and governance requirements.Key responsibilities will include:Providing strategic procurement and contract management advice to business stakeholders.Leading end-to-end procurement activities, including planning, market approaches, evaluations and contract establishment.Developing and reviewing procurement documentation, evaluation plans, reports and contract documentation.Supporting supplier engagement, negotiations and commercial discussions.Managing contract administration,



performance monitoring and contract variations.Providing procurement governance, risk management and compliance support.Developing procurement policies, procedures, templates and guidance material.Delivering procurement capability uplift, training and mentoring to internal stakeholders.Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and procurement maturity uplift activities.
What you'll need to succeedTo be considered, you will bring:Proven procurement and contract management experience within Federal Government, Defence or other highly regulated environments.Strong knowledge of Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs) and government procurement frameworks.Experience delivering end-to-end procurement activities and contract management outcomes.Strong commercial acumen and stakeholder engagement skills.Excellent written communication skills, including procurement documentation, governance reporting and executive briefs.Experience influencing and advising senior stakeholders.Previous leadership, mentoring or team supervision experience will be highly regarded.Certificate IV in Procurement and Contracting or higher (desirable).Baseline Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
