We are seeking two experienced and customer-focused Payroll Officers (ASO2) to join a large government shared services payroll team based in Adelaide CBD.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your payroll expertise within a high-volume, fast-paced environment while supporting payroll services for a range of government agencies.

About the Role

Reporting to the Operational Team Leader, you will be part of a dedicated payroll team responsible for processing timesheets and payroll transactions for a large and diverse workforce.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll information while providing high-quality customer service to employees and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

- Process payroll transactions and pay-related files accurately and within required deadlines
- Perform data entry and maintenance of employee payroll records
- Process timesheets, leave applications and payroll-related forms
- Assist with overtime, penalty and allowance processing
- Respond to payroll enquiries via phone and email
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and complex pay queries
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with payroll procedures
- Work collaboratively to achieve team targets and service delivery outcomes
- Contribute to continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Previous experience in a customer service or call centre environment




- Strong data entry skills with a high level of speed and accuracy (minimum 40 wpm)
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Word and Excel
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage high work volumes
- Robust organisational skills and the ability to meet strict deadlines
- Proven ability to learn new systems and processes quickly
- A reliable and professional approach to work

Desirable Experience

- Payroll experience
- Experience using Chris21 payroll systems
- Previous experience in a large payroll or shared services environment
- Government sector experience

Mandatory Requirements

- Current National Police Clearance (issued within 12 months)
- Full working rights in Australia
- Availability to commence on 27 July 2026
