ECC can be one of the most rewarding areas of veterinary medicine, but it requires the right support to be sustainable long term. This opportunity offers the chance to work alongside experienced ECC clinicians and specialists in an environment designed to support both excellent patient care and clinician wellbeing.

Join a collaborative emergency and referral team in Perth’s northern suburbs where high standards of medicine are matched by strong specialist support, thoughtful workflows and a genuine commitment to professional development.

A mix of evening, overnight and weekend shifts are available. Weekday shifts include 4pm to midnight or 1am, and 11pm to 9am. Weekend shifts include 8am to 5pm, 4pm to midnight, and 11pm to 9am.

You’ll work alongside specialists in surgery, internal medicine, oncology, cardiology, diagnostic imaging and anaesthesia, managing a diverse and rewarding emergency caseload within a multidisciplinary referral environment.

The emergency service has been designed to support both patients and clinicians, with purpose-designed triage facilities, separate canine and feline intensive care units, dedicated isolation facilities and an in-hospital blood bank. Advanced diagnostics and monitoring equipment include point-of-care ultrasound, comprehensive in-house laboratory facilities, blood gas analysis, ROTEM, ventilatory support and centralised patient monitoring systems, allowing the team to provide a high level of care for critically ill and high-acuity patients.

Access to CT, MRI, fluoroscopy, advanced ultrasound, minimally invasive surgery and interventional radiology further supports the management of complex emergency presentations and facilitates close collaboration with specialist services across the hospital. AI-assisted medical record writing and streamlined workflows have also been incorporated to help reduce administrative burden and allow clinicians to focus more time on patient care.

A strong emphasis is placed on teamwork, communication and shared learning. Regular multidisciplinary rounds, case discussions and journal clubs form part of everyday practice, creating an environment where clinicians are encouraged to continue developing their skills and clinical confidence throughout their careers.

The leadership team is passionate about mentorship and supporting skilled growth at all career stages. Whether you’re early in your ECC career or looking to further refine your expertise, you’ll have access to experienced ECC clinicians and specialists who are committed to helping colleagues develop confidence, clinical judgement and advanced skills.

Applicants should have experience working as an Emergency and Critical Care Veterinarian and be eligible for veterinary registration in Western Australia. Experience working alongside ECC specialists within a referral setting is preferred, while MANZCVS (ECC) or PGCert (ECC) qualifications would be highly regarded.

The position is available on either a full-time or part-time basis. Additional benefits include relocation assistance, visa support where applicable, a continuing professional development allowance, one week of conference leave annually, salary packaging options and leave entitlements in accordance with the National Employment Standards.

The employer is willing to assist with a work visa (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.

Perth offers an enviable lifestyle with beautiful beaches, abundant sunshine and easy access to outdoor recreation throughout the year. With a relaxed pace of life, short commute times and excellent dining, entertainment and travel opportunities, Perth provides an outstanding balance between a rewarding clinical career and an exceptional lifestyle outside of work.
