About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Drupal Developer to join a Federal Government agency responsible for delivering and maintaining critical public-facing digital services.
Working within a small, collaborative web team, you'll play a key role in enhancing and supporting a modern Drupal platform, delivering secure, accessible and high-performing web applications while contributing to the ongoing evolution of the organisation's digital capability.
This role offers a hybrid working arrangement following an initial onboarding period, with attendance in the office 5 days per fortnight.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance and maintain enterprise Drupal websites, including custom module development.
- Design and implement new website features and functionality across front-end and back-end components.
- Improve website performance, security and overall platform reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues involving caching, background processing, integrations and production incidents.
- Develop secure, scalable and maintainable web applications following industry best practice.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, quality assurance and deployment activities.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure hosting environments meet business and technical requirements.
- Support website releases, technical documentation and ongoing platform improvements.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, content authors and technical specialists to deliver quality digital outcomes.
Skills & Experience Required
- Extensive experience developing and maintaining Drupal websites (Drupal 9/10 preferred).
- Solid experience developing and supporting custom Drupal modules.
- Experience improving website performance, security and analytics.
- Strong understanding of WCAG accessibility standards, usability and user-centred design.
- Experience with Git, source control, CI/CD pipelines and structured release management.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex production issues across web platforms.
- Experience working alongside infrastructure, networking and hosting teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Previous Australian Government digital project experience will be highly regarded.
