Overview

Role: Senior Mechanical Engineer at a cutting-edge aerospace development company that designs and manufactures high-performance products. With a strong emphasis on quickly transforming ideas into functional solutions, the company is known for a rigorous approach to design, testing, and manufacturing.

This full-time, Adelaide-based position requires Australian citizenship due to defence project requirements.

Responsibilities

- Lead and manage the mechanical design office, supporting and mentoring a team of engineers and designers.
- Oversee the design and development of mechanical systems including actuator arms, gearboxes, and aircraft structural assemblies.
- Ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with electronics, avionics, and composite structures.
- Drive design reviews, design documentation, and continuous improvement practices across the team.
- Maintain a hands-on presence when needed—supporting prototyping, fault-finding, and system testing.
- Collaborate closely with R&D;, manufacturing, and leadership teams to align technical outcomes with broader project goals.

Requirements





- Extensive experience in mechanical design for complex systems (e.g., UAVs, aircraft, robotics, or automotive platforms).
- Demonstrated leadership or team management experience in an engineering environment.
- Solid proficiency in Solid Works (or similar CAD tools) for 3D modeling and mechanical systems design.
- Practical knowledge of prototyping, fabrication, and testing of mechanical systems.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Desirable

- Aerospace engineering background with mechanical design experience.
- Knowledge of lightweight structural design and materials (e.g., composites, alloys).
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes for precision mechanical components.
