Data Architect Your new companyA leading Australian organisation is embarking on a major enterprise-wide data transformation program focused on modernising its data ecosystem and enabling future Data & AI capabilities. This initiative includes migrating from legacy data warehouse platforms to AWS Cloud, implementing Data Mesh principles, and establishing a scalable, cloud-native data platform that will support the organisation's long-term digital strategy.
Your new roleAn opportunity exists for a Hands-On Data Architect to lead the Finance data stream within a complex transformation program. This role is ideally suited to someone who has progressed from a strong Data Engineering background into architecture and remains highly technical.You will be responsible for defining and driving the data architecture, leading technical discussions, influencing key stakeholders, and providing hands-on guidance throughout delivery. While operating at an architectural level, you will also work closely with engineering teams to ensure solutions are practical, scalable, and successfully implemented.
Key responsibilities include:

- Lead the Finance data workstream across a large-scale transformation program.
- Define and own the target-state data architecture and migration roadmap.
- Drive the migration from legacy data warehouse technologies to AWS Cloud.
- Design and implement Data Mesh-aligned architecture and data products.
- Provide technical leadership across data engineering, integration, modelling and governance.
- Lead architecture workshops and facilitate discussions with business and technical stakeholders.
- Review solution designs and provide hands-on technical direction to delivery teams.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, resilient and aligned to enterprise standards.
- Enable future analytics, reporting,



machine learning and AI capabilities through modern platform design.
- Collaborate with project, architecture and engineering teams to deliver successful outcomes.

What you'll need to succeed

- Proven experience as a Data Architect, Lead Data Architect, Principal Data Engineer or similar role.
- Strong hands-on Data Engineering background with the ability to contribute to solution design and technical decision-making.
- Experience leading enterprise data platform modernisation or cloud migration programs.
- Deep knowledge of contemporary data architecture patterns and best practices.
- Strong experience with:
- AWS
- DBT
- Amazon Redshift
- Data Warehousing
- Data Modelling
- ETL/ELT Frameworks
- Data Mesh Architecture

- Experience designing cloud-native data platforms that support analytics and AI workloads.
- Ability to independently lead discussions, workshops and stakeholder engagements.
- Proven capability to take ownership of architecture decisions and drive outcomes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
