We are seeking a proactive and analytical Route Management Support Officer to join a state government transport team based in Redcliffe. Reporting to the Route Management team, this role provides technical support in the monitoring, analysis and optimisation of road network performance, helping to improve traffic efficiency, safety and reliability for all road users. The successful candidate will work closely with Route Managers, traffic engineers and key stakeholders to analyse traffic data, support traffic signal operations, and contribute to transport planning and network management initiatives across the metropolitan road network.Your recent role
- Provide technical support to Route Managers in the development and implementation of strategies to improve route performance and network efficiency.
- Monitor and review traffic signal operations using SCATS (Sydney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System) to ensure optimal traffic flow outcomes.
- Assist in the design, implementation, review and optimisation of traffic signal timing plans and signal phasing arrangements.
- Analyse traffic performance data, reports and network trends to identify deficiencies and recommend potential improvement initiatives.
- Undertake traffic modelling and assess network performance to support effective traffic management decision-making.
- Monitor the performance of individual intersections and coordinated signal networks to ensure efficient operation.
- Support the assessment of transport impacts associated with planning referrals and development proposals.
- Prepare technical reports, correspondence and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing road network performance and customer outcomes.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, government agencies, consultants and other stakeholders.
What you'll need to succeed
- Understanding of the traffic and transportation sector.
- Demonstrated experience using computer-based systems, technical tools and data analysis software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical data and performance reports.
- Experience building and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships.
- Well-developed communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
