ConneCTErs Australia: NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR (VOLUNTARY) Organisation Type: Not-for-ProfitDirectorship Term: 3 YearsWork Option: Remote (Australia-wide)Remuneration: VoluntaryLocation of Opportunity: Australia (Advertising in VIC, NSW, QLD, ACT) About ConneCTErs Australia (CA) & Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) ConneCTErs Australia is a rapidly expanding national not-for-profit (NFP) health promotion charity, focused on empowering individuals and communities to better understand CTE, strengthening the healthcare system’s capacity to respond to the condition, and providing clinically informed and qualified support to people living with suspected or probable CTE along with their families and carers. Our current main funding source is provided by Dementia Australia through the Australian Government funded CTE Support and Prevention Program.
CTE is a neurodegenerative brain disease that causes progressive and irreversible damage to the brain, leading to memory loss, behavioural changes, and dementia-like decline. CTE has been linked to the exposure of repeated head impacts (RHIs) from knocks, injuries and concussions from high head impact activities and lifestyles, sport and workplaces, along with violence and other activities impacting brain and head safety.
Our mission is to advance brain health and safety by working nationally with individuals, communities and stakeholders across all generations, with a particular focus on populations at elevated risk. We advocate for, and support individuals and their families suspected or determined probably living with the condition, and guide people with required clinical intervention due to RHIs. Positioned at the intersection of high-risk populations, medical research and public policy, we drive national awareness of CTE. Having secured federal funding, ConneCTErs Australia is now at a critical stage of strategic growth and increasing national influence.
