About ComAp

ComAp builds smart power control technology: flexible, intuitive systems that keep power generation running reliably. In Australia, our Adelaide workshop designs, builds and tests the control panels behind generators, hybrid energy sites and backup power used across Australia and the Pacific. It’s hands-on technical work, and we’re actively looking for a senior panel builder who takes pride in a quality build to join the team. Founded in 1991 and still family-owned, ComAp has grown into a global business with 18 subsidiaries worldwide, giving the Adelaide team the stability of an established international company.

About the role

This is a hands-on technical role in our Adelaide workshop, building, wiring and independently testing electrical control panels to current Australian Standards. There are no people management responsibilities: your focus is delivering panels to the highest quality and safety standards.

As a senior, experienced builder, you’ll bring real expertise to the workshop and provide technical guidance to support the broader team when needed. You’ll also work closely with ComAp’s project managers, electrical engineers and technicians to keep projects on track and delivered to the standard our customers expect.

What you'll do

- Build electrical control panels to current Australian Standards, working from schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings.

- Independently carry out panel testing, including functional testing, commissioning checks and fault diagnosis.

- Own the quality of your work,

and keep your paperwork and quality checks up to scratch.

- Act as the technical reference point in the workshop, providing hands-on guidance, coaching and fault-finding support to other panel builders.

- Liaise with ComAp project managers, electrical engineers and technicians to keep builds on track.

- Carry out risk and hazard assessments, use PPE correctly, and help keep the workshop safe and clean.

- Keep jobs on schedule, cut out waste, and flag anything that could hold up delivery.

- Keep your manager informed of any issues or concerns.

What you'll bring

- Proven experience building and independently testing electrical control panels (around 5+ years in panel building, or 5+ years in electrical or a related field).

- A current South Australian electrical licence (mandatory).

- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings, including outputs from AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.

- Solid experience in building panels to Australian Standards.

- Advanced skills in panel testing, commissioning, quality assurance and fault diagnosis.

- Good PC skills and a working knowledge of the Microsoft suite.

- A valuable handle on Workplace Health and Safety on the job.

- Unrestricted eligibility to live and work in Australia.

If you’ve got solid panel-building experience and most of the above, we’d like to hear from you, even if you don’t tick every box.

Nice to have

- An interest in ComAp products, or in PLC or microprocessor-based controls, generators, engines or related industrial equipment.

- A strong work ethic, an eye for detail, and the drive to get the job done right.

- Clear communication and a focus on doing right by the customer.

- A team player who’s happy to lend a hand.

- Keen to keep learning and sharpening your skills.

- Flexibility to work outside normal hours when required.

What we offer

- Opportunities for overtime.

- Workshop-based role, one location, no site travel.

- Work with a respected name in power generation and smart control technology.

- A hands-on role where your build quality and expertise genuinely matter.

- Technical training and support from an experienced local and global engineering team.

- A safe, well-equipped Adelaide workshop and a collaborative team culture.

- A competitive salary package.

- Plenty of room to grow and build a long-term career.
