About the role

The key new role of Council's Traffic Management Officer sits within the Civil Maintenance team and is responsible for carrying out and leading traffic management activities. The role will support teams to complete essential road and drainage maintenance in a protected manner while assisting Team Leaders in scheduling works and monitoring team safety. You'll take the lead in developing and implementing Traffic Management Plans, providing expert advice and onsite guidance to work crews, conducting site safety audits and ensuring works are delivered in line with legislative and safety requirements. Working across a variety of projects, you'll play a hands-on leadership role while maintaining accurate records, reviewing traffic management templates and supporting continuous improvement across Council's traffic management practices.

About you

You will have a number of years' experience in traffic management and will have a strong focus on providing onsite guidance and leadership. Your proven record keeping skills will be a valuable asset to Council. You enjoy leading by example, have excellent communication skills and are confident working collaboratively with outdoor crews, Team Leaders and contractors. You're organised, adaptable and comfortable planning work, solving problems in the field and ensuring high standards of safety and quality are maintained. Ideally, you'll hold current Traffic Controller (TC1) and Traffic Management Implementer (TMI1) qualifications (or higher), along with a current Victorian Driver License,



and be passionate about creating safe outcomes for both workers and the community
