About the role





Deliver care to our tiniest patients! The Registered Nurse or Midwife provides person‑centred nursing/midwifery care, assessing patient needs while planning and coordinating services with multidisciplinary teams. The Registered Nurse or Midwife leads shifts, delivers health education to staff and patients, and assists student learning within the clinical setting.

Key duties of the role

- Assess individual patient needs and plan, implement, and/or coordinate appropriate service delivery.
- Provide direct person-centred nursing/midwifery care and/or individual case management to patients.
- Plan and coordinate services with other disciplines or agencies.
- Provide ward/team leader/coordination as required on a shift‑by‑shift basis.
- Provide health promotion and education to patients or groups and carers to improve the health outcomes of individuals.

Skills and Experience

- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse and/or Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practising certificate.
- Demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice.
- Effective communication skills including, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing consumer/client and family centred care.
