Glen Innes Severn Council
Glen Innes
- Permanent Full Time (70 hours per fortnight)
- From $92,712 per annum including superannuation
- Flexible work arrangements available
Glen Innes Severn Council is looking for an experienced Executive Assistant to support our General Manager and Mayor. Working directly with Council's leadership team, you'll coordinate meetings, manage priorities, prepare documentation and help ensure significant decisions, projects and community initiatives stay on track.
This is a role for someone who enjoys bringing order to competing priorities and can confidently work with senior leaders, Councillors, staff and members of the community.
What the role looks like
You'll be the person making sure the details don't get missed. That could mean coordinating a week of meetings for the General Manager, preparing a briefing for the Mayor ahead of a public event, compiling business papers for a Council meeting, or following up actions that need to be completed before the next agenda goes out.
You'll also be responsible for:
- Managing calendars, meeting requests and travel arrangements
- Preparing correspondence, reports, briefing notes and presentations
- Supporting Council and committee meetings, including agendas, minutes and action tracking
- Maintaining accurate records and confidential documentation
- Assisting with civic events such as Australia Day celebrations and Citizenship Ceremonies
- Researching and assembling information to support decision-making
- Responding to enquiries from Councillors, staff and community members
The work is varied, often deadline-driven,
and requires someone who can switch between tasks without losing attention to detail.
About you
You'll likely have experience supporting executives, senior managers, elected officials or leadership teams.
You know how to manage competing priorities, communicate professionally with a wide range of people, and produce documentation that's accurate, clear and ready to go.
We're looking for someone with:
- Qualifications in Business Administration or equivalent experience
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently
- Excellent written communication and document preparation skills
- Sound judgement when handling confidential information
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- The ability to interpret policies, procedures and legislative requirements
Experience in local government will be highly regarded, particularly knowledge of governance processes, Council meetings and systems such as Civica Altitude, ECM (DataWorks) or InfoCouncil.
Why Glen Innes?
Glen Innes offers something many people are looking for but struggle to find: a rewarding career without the traffic, long commutes or major city housing costs.
You’ll be joining a close-knit organisation where it's easy to get to know people, see the outcomes of your work, and contribute to projects that directly affect the local community.
Council also offers:
- Flexible work arrangements, including rostered days off and compressed work weeks
- Salary packaging opportunities
- Long service leave after five years
- Ongoing learning and professional development
Applications close 5:00pm on Monday, 17 August 2026.
