CKG Search has been exclusively instructed by a global leader in the healthcare and life sciences sector with a growing Australian and New Zealand operation.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the General Counsel, you will advise the business across the full breadth of its legal needs with genuine autonomy, embedding the legal framework and delivering training to staff on relevant legal and commercial topics. This is a hands-on senior role in a lean team, with carriage of business-critical matters and advice that lands directly with decision-makers.

On Offer

- Hybrid working arrangements (3:2)
- Regional remit with travel across Australia and New Zealand
- Real investment in training and development
- Scope to grow as the function evolves
- The backing of a global business, the pace of a local one
- Generous remuneration package with financial incentives and additional benefits

While the role is offered on a full-time, hybrid basis, our client is open to discussing flexible working arrangements and reasonable adjustments to support your success.

Responsibilities

- Advise across commercial, corporate governance, regulatory and compliance matters
- Lead negotiation of complex procurement, supply and services agreements
- Run business-critical transactions, key projects and complex disputes
- Advise on the full employment spectrum, from contracts and policies to investigations, terminations and restraints
- Drive WHS governance and framework uplift across both jurisdictions
- Support M&A; and post-acquisition integration
- Review advertising, marketing and education materials against laws and industry codes

- Design and deliver legal training across the region
- Partner with Compliance and HR to embed a robust compliance culture

Requirements

- Law degree and an Australian Practising Certificate (or eligibility)
- 7 years' PQE gained at a reputable law firm; in-house or secondment experience highly regarded
- Deep expertise negotiating contracts and leading complex commercial transactions
- Exposure to employment law, M&A;, WHS, advertising or therapeutic goods regulation highly regarded
- Healthcare and life sciences experience, in-house or in practice, highly regarded
- Commercial acumen, sound independent judgement and a collaborative, mentoring style

If you're unsure whether your experience meets these requirements, but believe you offer relevant, comparable or transferable experience, please reach out to explore your suitability.

This role will suit a commercially sharp senior lawyer who thrives on variety and wants genuine ownership rather than a narrow lane.

If you are ready to take the reins of a trans-Tasman legal portfolio and grow with a business that is still building, this is your moment.
