About the team
You will be part of a team of motivated privacy professionals that supports Service NSW to understand and implement privacy obligations. The privacy team engages and works with all parts of Service NSW, our partner agencies and across the multiple channels that our customers use. Senior Privacy Advisors are subject matter experts for assigned specialisations within Service NSW’s privacy program of work, ensuring work is delivered to high standards that meet organisational and government requirements.
This role is expected to use and enhance existing privacy frameworks, tools, templates, and processes to achieve improved outcomes. You will contribute to driving strategic priorities and transformation across the agency to improve privacy awareness, maturity, capability, and cultural uplift.
Senior Privacy Advisors are expected to work independently and provide detailed privacy advice and lead activities such as Privacy Impact Assessments and Privacy Internal Reviews.
You will provide broad advisory support and coaching to Privacy Advisors and co-develop and deliver privacy training and awareness activities. You also support the Privacy Manager and the Director to meet reporting requirements and briefing the Service NSW Executive.
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
- Experience as a privacy subject matter expert and a working understanding of applying privacy principles or privacy law to projects and programs of work. Relevant experience in policy, legal, information governance, risk or another regulatory environment may also be considered
- A positive ‘can do’ attitude, ability to build strong relationships and work in a very agile, fast-paced, and collaborative environment to inform decision making and mitigate privacy risks
- Ability to communicate clearly, effectively and in plain English to deliver written reports, presentations and meetings with stakeholders
- Ability to solve complex problems and influence stakeholders – by finding a balance between preserving and ensuring privacy outcomes, and achieving customer and business outcomes
- Ability to collaborate with other business units to gather the information you need, and analyse that information to provide insights and recommendations that inform decision making and outcomes
- A strategic understanding of legal, technological and international developments in privacy
- Tertiary qualifications within a relevant discipline such as law, governance, policy, or risk (this will be an advantage but not mandatory)
