Aquinas College is seeking a highly motivated, organised, and passionate individual to lead our rowing program in the role of Director of Rowing.

Sport plays a vital role in the holistic development of students at Aquinas College, helping to nurture curious, creative, confident, and compassionate young people. Rowing is a proud and valued part of the College’s sporting culture and continues to thrive through strong leadership, innovation, and community engagement.

The Director of Rowing is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the College’s rowing program. Reporting to the Head of Sport, the successful candidate will develop and deliver an innovative, inclusive, and high-performing rowing program that supports participation, skill development, and excellence across all levels.

The role involves leading and mentoring a team of coaches, fostering a positive and supportive culture, and ensuring the delivery of a safe, engaging, and meaningful experience for all student-athletes. The Director of Rowing may also undertake coaching responsibilities as required.

This position requires a genuine passion for rowing, exceptional leadership capability, and the ability to build solid relationships with students, parents, coaches, staff, and the wider rowing community. The successful candidate will understand and champion the important role that rowing plays in developing character, resilience, wellbeing, sportsmanship, and a lifelong appreciation of sport.

About You

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

- Relevant qualifications and extensive experience in rowing, including coaching and program leadership.

- Proven leadership experience in the design, development, and management of innovative and inclusive rowing programs.





- Extensive technical knowledge of rowing and a strong understanding of athlete development pathways.

- Demonstrated success in leading, managing, and developing coaching staff.

- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety, with the ability to proactively manage risks and promote participant wellbeing.

- Excellent organisational, administrative, and time-management skills.

- High-level written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.

- Proficiency in the use of technology and relevant software applications.

- A proven ability to foster a positive culture that reflects the College values of teamwork, inclusivity, excellence, integrity, and sportsmanship.

- Experience motivating and supporting students of varying ages, abilities, and competitive aspirations.

Essential Requirements

- Current WA Working with Children Check (or the ability to obtain one).

- Current National Police Clearance (or the ability to obtain one).

- Current First Aid and CPR certification.

- Current Recreational Skipper’s Ticket (RST) / Boat Licence.

- Appropriate Australian work rights.

- Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School (or willingness to obtain).

- Willingness to undertake Mandatory Reporting and other relevant professional learning requirements.

- Demonstrated support for the Edmund Rice Charism,



Edmund Rice education, and the Catholic ethos of Aquinas College.
