Founded in 1980, Christian College Geelong is a K-12 school where academic achievement is balanced with care and concern for each student’s character development and wellbeing, grounded in the Christian faith. We have five campuses across Geelong, the Bellarine Peninsula and Surf Coast region as well as a rural experience for Year 9 students at an expansive farm property in Scotsburn, near Ballarat, and a unique Art, Technology and Design campus for Senior School students in Waurn Ponds.

About the Role

Position: Instrumental Music Tutor (Cello)

Employment Type: Casual (approx. 1-2 days per week during school terms)

Employment Start Date - Immediate start available

The Instrumental Music Tutor – Cello is responsible for delivering high quality instrumental music tuition in accordance with college policies and procedures. Working closely with students, music staff and families,



you will provide engaging and inspiring Cello instruction through individual lessons, small group tuition and classroom music programs. You will contribute to the ongoing growth and excellence of the College’s Music Program while supporting students to develop their musical skills, confidence and passion for music.

Selection Criteria

To be considered for this role, please address the following criteria in your application. Your responses should contain relevant examples demonstrating your experience and suitability for the position:

- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in instrumental music education.

- Ability to teach cello across a broad range of ages and skill levels from Prep to Year 12.

- Experience delivering engaging individual and small-group instrumental lessons.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- The capacity to build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.

- A commitment to maintaining secure, inclusive and supportive learning environments.

- Alignment with and support for the Christian ethos and values of Christian College Geelong.

What you Bring

You bring experience teaching instrumental music to both primary and secondary-aged students and possess a strong understanding of cello pedagogy, from foundational techniques through to advanced performance skills.

You will have:

- A degree in music, instrumental education or a related field; or

- Current tertiary study in music; or

- Equivalent professional performance, music industry or instrumental teaching experience.





Experience in any of the following areas will be highly regarded:

- Performance experience in string orchestras, symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles or as a soloist.

- Experience leading or conducting ensembles.

- Experience teaching and performing on an additional instrument.

- Experience supporting students undertaking VCE Music studies.
