About the team

Reporting directly to the Health Service Chief Executive, you will sit on the Executive Leadership Team and work closely with executive colleagues, senior directors, nursing leaders and key external stakeholders.

About the role

This permanent full‑time role is accountable for the executive leadership, strategic direction and professional management of nursing services across Children’s Health Queensland. You will provide executive leadership across professional, operational and policy matters while shaping workforce strategy, governance, innovation and patient safety.

Key responsibilities

- Lead the strategic and professional direction of nursing services across Children’s Health Queensland.
- Partner with executive leaders to deliver organisational strategy, reform and performance outcomes.
- Drive workforce capability, attraction, retention,



learning and leadership development.
- Oversee clinical governance, risk, patient safety, service performance and resource stewardship.
- Build strong relationships across government, unions, research, tertiary and community stakeholders.

About you

- Proven executive nursing leadership in a complex health service environment.
- Deep expertise in paediatrics and/or child and youth health.
- Strong clinical governance, risk management and quality improvement capability.
- Outstanding communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Values‑led leadership, sound judgement and executive experience in workforce and budget management.

Mandatory requirements

- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
- Tertiary degree, or equivalent, in nursing.
- Management or clinical specialty qualifications highly regarded.
- Current Queensland Working with Children Check (Blue Card) prior to commencement.
- Ability to meet vaccination and screening requirements, with some regional and interstate travel required.
