This is an opportunity to lead an established organisation at an important stage of its development.
What the role offers
- work closely with an engaged Board;
- lead a committed team of four;
- influence the organisation’s future direction;
- build meaningful relationships across the Peel region;
- develop new membership, partnership and revenue opportunities;
- support the capability and success of approximately 450 member businesses; and
- contribute directly to regional business and economic development.
The position is full-time and based in the Mandurah office. Some early morning, evening and regional travel will be required to attend events and engage with members and stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- leading the implementation of the organisation’s strategic plan;
- developing and delivering annual operational plans, budgets and performance measures;
- strengthening member engagement, retention and value;
- growing and diversifying membership, sponsorship and partnership revenue;
- building relationships with businesses, government representatives, industry bodies and community stakeholders;
- positioning the organisation as a credible and influential voice for the regional business community;
- overseeing a program of purposeful, relevant and financially sustainable events and member initiatives;
- leading, supporting and developing a small multidisciplinary team;
- maintaining oversight of financial performance, budgets, cash flow and organisational sustainability;
- improving systems, processes, technology and operational efficiency;
- providing explicit, timely and strategic reporting to the Board; and
- ensuring appropriate governance, risk management and compliance.
About you
You will be a confident, collaborative and commercially astute leader with the ability to build trust across a diverse stakeholder group.
You will ideally bring:
- demonstrated experience in an Executive Officer, Chief Executive, General Manager or comparable senior leadership role;
- experience leading a small team and creating a positive, accountable workplace culture;
- strong strategic planning and implementation capability;
- sound financial management, budgeting and commercial skills;
- demonstrated success in business development, partnerships, sponsorships or revenue growth;
- highly developed stakeholder engagement and relationship-management skills;
- experience working with a Board, committee or governance group;
- strong written, verbal and presentation skills;
- the ability to operate strategically while remaining willing to manage operational detail;
- sound judgement, initiative, resilience and personal accountability; and
- confidence using contemporary business systems, digital platforms and customer relationship management systems.
Experience within a membership organisation, industry association, chamber of commerce, not-for-profit organisation or regional development environment will be highly regarded.
Knowledge of the Peel region and established relationships across business, government or industry would also be advantageous.
