CHATS (Children’s Health and Therapy Services) is a boutique, neuro-affirming children’s therapy and health centre supporting children, teens, and young adults from approximately 6 months to 25 years. Evolving from Chatterbox Australia Therapy Services, CHATS has over 20 years of experience providing integrated, strengths-based and evidence-informed services. Families can access individual therapy, term-based groups, holiday programs, and special events, with clear pathways tailored for toddlers, preschoolers, primary-aged children, and teens/young adults. Services include therapy-informed groups and events, flagship programs such as PREPARE (4–6 years) for school readiness, Life Ready (16–25 years) for independence and job/life skills, and Playgroup Victoria for early development and parent guidance. CHATS operates from Bundoora, with regional VIC/NSW outreach clinics and telehealth options to increase access to care.
Role Description
This is a full time, on-site Paediatric Occupational Therapist role based in Bundoora, VIC. The Paediatric Occupational Therapist will provide assessment and intervention for children, teens, and young adults across home, early learning, school, work, and community settings, using neuro-affirming and strengths-based approaches. Day-to-day activities include conducting functional and developmental assessments, planning and delivering individual therapy sessions, facilitating term-based groups and programs (such as school readiness and life skills),
and collaborating with families, educators, and other health professionals. The role involves maintaining clear documentation and care plans, contributing to integrated pathways for different age cohorts, and participating in service development and quality improvement. The therapist will also support outreach and group-based services, and may provide clinical guidance to therapy assistants or students as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Paediatric Occupational Therapy, with strong skills in functional assessment, intervention planning, and therapy delivery.
- Knowledge of Pediatrics and child development, with an understanding of neurodiversity, developmental conditions, and family-centered care.
- Highly developed Communication skills, including clear written documentation, collaborative teamwork, and the ability to engage children, young people, families, and referrers.
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and current professional registration/eligibility to practice in Australia (AHPRA).
- Experience or strong interest in neuro-affirming, strengths-based and evidence-informed practice with children and young people.
- Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team, manage a varied caseload, and adapt to group, individual, and outreach service formats.
- Current Working With Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening clearances; previous experience in paediatric community or clinic
