Ason Group is a specialist transport planning and engineering consultancy with a vision to improve the communities we live in. Founded in 2014 and combining decades of experience, we have grown into one of the largest traffic and transport consultancies in NSW, working predominantly across Current South Wales and Queensland for developers, planners, architects, retailers, project managers, local councils and state government agencies.
Our work covers transport impact assessments, parking studies, transport modelling, road safety, intersection design, active transport and TMAPs. Most of our projects sit at the intersection of land use planning and transport, which keeps the work varied and the technical bar high.
We are looking for an experienced transport modeller to step into a Senior role within our Modelling & Data Analytics Team, someone who can lead modelling projects, work alongside our Directors and Principals on some of the most significant projects in NSW and QLD and help our junior team members grow. About the Role
You will report to the Principal Lead – Modelling & Data Analytics and operate as project lead across a range of transport modelling and data analytics assignments. You will lead day-to-day delivery, manage client contact and take ownership of outputs, with a Principal acting as project director to provide support and direction.
You will play an active mentoring role for junior modellers and analysts, helping them build technical skills and deliver their project tasks to the standard expected.
Project work spans strategic and operational traffic modelling (AIMSUN, SIDRA), network demand analysis, data analytics and stakeholder engagement across NSW and QLD government and local council environments.
What You Will
Do
Project delivery and client management
Lead and deliver allocated modelling projects end-to-end, including scope management, quality assurance and timely delivery
Be the day-to-day client lead on assigned projects, maintaining strong professional relationships
Prepare fee proposals and develop modelling methodologies
Represent Ason Group in project and stakeholder meetings, including with TfNSW, TMR, local councils and private clients
Work with the Principals to grow our key client accounts and relationships Technical work
Lead the development and application of transport models using AIMSUN Next and SIDRA, including mesoscopic and microsimulation modelling
Lead technical deliverables including traffic network modelling, network demand analyses, intersection modelling and assessment and traffic data analytics
Provide technical advice to clients and project teams on model inputs, outputs and their implications for decision-making
Apply and support innovative, data-driven workflows, including Python scripting, ArcGIS / QGIS and Tableau or similar tools
Oversee and contribute to field investigations to support model calibration and validation
Apply Austroads, TfNSW/TMR and Australian Standards to projects Team leadership and mentoring
Mentor and coach junior modellers and analysts within acknowledged areas of expertise
Allocate discrete tasks to junior staff in consultation with the Principal Lead
Monitor project performance against budget and report on resourcing requirements and revenue forecasts About You

Strong communicator who builds trust with clients and supports the development of junior staff What We Are Looking For
Minimum requirements
Tertiary qualification in civil/traffic engineering, transport planning, or a related discipline
Hands-on experience with AIMSUN Next and/or SIDRA for network or intersection modelling
Familiarity with NSW and/or QLD regulatory frameworks, including TfNSW, TMR, DPHI and local government requirements, with a strong understanding of model development, calibration and validation
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage project tasks, meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision
Familiarity with Austroads guidelines and relevant Australian Standards
Full, unrestricted working rights in Australia Desirable:
5+ years of experience, with a track record of managing project delivery and client relationships
Consulting background, though we are equally open to candidates from a public sector or government agency environment
Experience with data analytics workflows, including Python scripting
Proficiency with GIS tools (ArcGIS or QGIS);
experience with Tableau is a bonus What We Offer
