About the Role

At Cold Rae, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional service, quality workmanship and long-term client relationships. As a Service Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining and repairing commercial HVAC across a diverse range of industries including commercial offices, schools, hospitality, healthcare and retail.

This is a hands-on role suited to a motivated technician who enjoys fault finding, solving problems and delivering outstanding customer service. You will work both independently and as part of a supportive team while representing Cold Rae’s professional reputation on every site.

Key Responsibilities

- Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance on commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Respond to reactive breakdowns and emergency call-outs in a timely and professional manner.
- Diagnose faults and perform repairs on:
- Split systems
- Ducted systems
- VRV/VRF systems
- Package units
- Chillers
- Ventilation and exhaust systems

- Accurately identify equipment issues and provide practical repair recommendations.
- Complete digital service reports, asset information and quotations using company software.
- Communicate professionally with clients and provide clear explanations of faults and recommended solutions.
- Identify additional repair or upgrade opportunities and communicate these to the Service Manager.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, housekeeping and presentation.
- Assist with the training and mentoring of apprentices and junior technicians.
- Ensure all work complies with Australian Standards, WHS legislation and Cold Rae procedures.
- Participate in the after-hours on-call roster when required.

What We’re Looking For

- Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (or equivalent).




- Current Refrigerant Handling Licence
- Current Australian Driver Licence.
- Experience servicing commercial HVAC equipment.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage your daily schedule.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- High attention to detail and pride in producing quality work.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and continuously improve.
- Ability to mentor apprentices and contribute positively to the team.

Desirable

- Experience with BMS controls.
- Experience with chillers and mechanical ventilation systems.
- EWP, Working at Heights
- Experience using digital job management systems such as SafetyCulture or similar.
