NT Health are looking for a Senior Medical Officer to support and expand Rural Generalist training capacity in Central Australia by developing, delivering, and coordinating Rural Generalist-focused education and training opportunities for senior medical students and PGY1–2 junior doctors.
This is a part time vacancy available for 0.8 (28 hrs and 30 mins) per week.
About the Hospital:Alice Springs Hospital is the major referral centre for Central Australia, serving a catchment area of over one million square kilometres. The hospital provides care to a geographically dispersed population, with a significant proportion of patients from remote Aboriginal communities.As a 183-bed teaching hospital affiliated with Flinders University and Charles Darwin University, Alice Springs Hospital delivers a broad scope of clinical services in a regional setting,
with a robust focus on general medicine, chronic disease management and remote health.
The clinical environment is complex and varied, with high acuity presentations, significant comorbidity and a strong emphasis on culturally appropriate care. Over two-thirds of acute admissions are Aboriginal patients, making cultural awareness, communication and adaptability essential components of service delivery.
