We work with autistic youth through a project based program to build pathways into tertiary education, vocational learning, and employment, in a supportive, inclusive, and empowering small group workplace. We provide a safe and nurturing space with a focus on social-emotional skill building, creative engagement, and developing life pathways beyond the traditional model.

6. Participants are supported into future pathways such as UniReady, TAFE, internships, or employment.

Position Summary:

This is a 0.8 FTE role

We are seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and dynamic Social and Emotional Transition (SET) Coach to join our Alternative Enhancement Program supporting autistic youth. The SET Coach plays a pivotal role in developing participants' emotional intelligence, emotional regulation strategies, interpersonal skills, and overall social-emotional growth. Working as a member of the PoD Team, and collaborating across a multidisciplinary team, the SET Coach not only delivers direct support and leads group and individual sessions, but also shares responsibility for social engagement planning and volunteering execution. In this capacity, the SET Coach ensures meaningful community involvement opportunities are thoughtfully coordinated to enhance social-emotional learning in real-world contexts. Additionally,



they assist staff and caregivers in implementing consistent Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies across environments, fostering cohesive and supportive development for all participants.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Direct Coaching & Support:

- Deliver individualised and group-based SEL coaching to participants.

- Model and teach emotional regulation, conflict resolution, communication, and self-advocacy skills.

- Support participants in generalising SEL skills across settings, including home, community, and the academy.

2. Curriculum Delivery & Strategy Implementation:

- Deliver and adapt SEL curriculum tailored to individual learning needs and diverse communication styles.

- Integrate evidence-based practices such as mindfulness, social narratives, visual supports, and emotional regulation strategies.

3. Collaboration, Assessment & Progress Monitoring:

- Collaborate closely with educators, allied health professionals, behaviour specialists, and families.

- Use evidence based formal and informal tools to assess participants’ SEL strengths and areas for growth.

- Track and report progress, using data to adjust support strategies for optimal outcomes.

- Ensure alignment with project based and inclusive education practices.

Eligibility & Compliance Requirements:

All SET Coach employees must:

- Hold a minimum of a Certificate IV in Youth Work, Youth Mental Health, Pastoral Care, Social Work, or a related field.

- Have at least four years of experience working with autistic individuals in education, support, or community-based settings.

- Hold or obtain a National Criminal Record Clearance (issued within the last 12 months).

- Hold or obtain a valid Working with Children Check.





- Complete the Lyn Beazley Academy Induction Program within 3 months of commencement.

- Undertake all role-specific training as required by the Lyn Beazley Academy policy.

Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, applicants must demonstrate:

- A genuine passion for working with autistic and neurodiverse youth, with demonstrated experience supporting their social, emotional, and educational development in inclusive or alternative learning environments.

- An empathetic, patient, and flexible approach, with strong knowledge of the mental health and behavioural challenges often experienced by young people in non-traditional settings. Ability to work with trauma-informed practices and apply therapeutic strategies to promote emotional regulation and resilience.

- Proven interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, including the ability to report on participant progress, collaborate with families and professionals, and contribute meaningfully to program planning and delivery within a multidisciplinary team.

- Demonstrated ability to support and implement personalised learning plans, behavioural frameworks, and therapy-aligned goals, particularly for participants with autism and/or mental health challenges.

- A commitment to confidentiality and ethical practice, with a high level of professionalism, integrity, and cultural responsiveness in all interactions.

- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to maintain accurate documentation, provide timely feedback, and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, participant-focused environment.
