We are currently seeking an experienced, motivated and safety-focused Leading Hand to join our Picking Station team at our Hope Valley facility.

About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership position working within a busy Waste & Recycling Picking Station. As the Leading Hand, you will lead by example while supporting the day-to-day operation of the Picking Station and assisting the Supervisor to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.

The successful applicant will continue to perform Picking Station duties while taking on additional leadership responsibilities.

Duties include:

- Running and assisting with daily pre-starts and safety briefings.

- Opening and closing plant activities.

- Assisting with coordinating daily team duties and workflow.

- Providing on-the-job training and support to team members.

- Assisting with and leading basic maintenance and housekeeping activities.

- Maintaining positive communication between operators, supervisors and other departments.

- Leading by example and promoting a strong safety culture.

- Sorting recyclable materials (brick, concrete, plastic, timber and metal) from conveyor systems.





- Manual handling, shovelling and general labouring duties.

- Maintaining strict adherence to all company policies, procedures and safety requirements.

What We're Looking For

To be successful, you will:

- MUST Hold a current Driver's Licence and have reliable transport.

- Demonstrate previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role or possess the capability to step into a leadership position.

- Be physically fit and capable of performing repetitive manual tasks.

- Have a robust commitment to workplace health and safety.

- Be reliable, punctual and committed to attending all rostered shifts.

- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Be confident leading by example and motivating others.

- Be able to work independently while supporting and coordinating a team.

- Be available for an immediate start.
