Help build machine learning systems that improve healthcare.

Lenexa Medical is a growing MedTech company developing intelligent connected devices that improve care across aged care and hospitals in Australia and Asia.

As we continue to scale and expand our next-generation software platform, we're looking for two Software & ML Engineers to join our software engineering team.

You'll work directly with our Chief Scientific Officer and a small, collaborative engineering team where ideas are shared, ownership is encouraged, and you'll have the opportunity to contribute across the full engineering stack.

The role Build and run a production MedTech ML system alongside a small team: cloud infrastructure, edge device fleet, computer vision models and deployment.

Most ML jobs are a slice of a pipeline inside a cloud account. This one is the whole thing.

You'll build software that is deployed to real medical devices used by healthcare providers. Models get trained, iterated and shipped to a fleet of IoT devices operating in the field.

We've recently transitioned to a new software architecture. It is up-to-date, well documented, and provides an excellent opportunity to help shape the platform as we continue to scale.

What success looks like In your first six months you'll become a trusted contributor across our software platform, helping deliver production-ready software, improving the reliability of our device fleet and contributing to the continued evolution of our engineering architecture.

What you'll work on

- A fleet of Linux ARM Cortex IoT devices running on-device ML inference: images, OTA updates, provisioning, telemetry and recovery.
- AWS infrastructure: Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, EC2 services, Terraform, networking and cost optimisation.
- The ML pipeline: training on on-premise hardware, tracked and versioned in MLFlow, with deployment to the edge.
- Internal tooling and observability for our Product Support team.
- The data pipeline: ingesting and validating pseudo-labelled raw data from the cloud to train and evaluate models.

- Production reliability and incident response, shared across the engineering team.

What we're looking for We're after capable all-rounders.

You don't need to have done all of this before, but you do need to be switched on, eager to learn and comfortable working across unfamiliar ground.

We're looking for engineers who enjoy solving difficult problems, take ownership of their work and like collaborating in a small team.

Essential

- Solid software engineering fundamentals, including cloud-native and distributed systems design.
- Experience working on production systems and an understanding of what that demands.
- Comfortable working in a small team where responsibilities are shared and communication matters.
- Happy contributing to technical decisions without needing to be the sole decision-maker.
- Curiosity, adaptability and a willingness to continuously learn.

Desirable We don't expect any one person to have all of these. Tell us which of them you have and which you'd like to grow into.
- Linux: strong experience working with Linux systems (Debian preferred).
- ML: computer vision, model training, evaluation and deployment.
- IoT / Fleet: device fleet management, OTA updates, blue/green deployment, staged rollouts and rollback strategies.
- Cloud: AWS and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).

Why join Lenexa?

- Build software that directly improves people's lives.
- Work across cloud infrastructure, edge computing and machine learning—not just one piece of the stack.
- Join a growing MedTech company with real products already deployed across Australia and Asia.
- Work directly with experienced founders and technical leaders.
- Help shape the future of our software platform while continuing to learn and grow.

Terms

- Part-time (3 days per week) — we're flexible on which days and happy to discuss the arrangement.
- Hybrid WFH and in-office.
- Burnley, Melbourne office location.
- Opportunity to transition to full-time or remain permanently part-time as we continue to grow.
- If you're excited by solving challenging engineering problems and want your work to have a tangible impact on healthcare, we'd love to hear from you.
