The Position

We are seeking Principal Security Architects who bring a consulting mindset, senior technical judgement and practical architecture leadership to help clients design and govern secure, compliant and resilient enterprise ICT solutions on the fixed term employment.

In this role, you will work with business stakeholders, customers, architects and multidisciplinary delivery teams to define security requirements, assess risk, shape secure target-state designs and provide specialist advice across applications, cloud platforms, infrastructure, integration services and operational environments.

Working as part of project and support teams, you will apply agreed standards, customer approval processes and security frameworks to bring structure, clarity and practical advice to client engagements, guide implementation decisions, mentor others and support quality outcomes aligned to business needs.

Key Responsibilities

· Design, govern and assure enterprise security architectures across applications, cloud, infrastructure, network, integration and operational environments.

· Provide senior security architecture advice to clients and delivery teams, acting as a trusted consultant, technical leader, mentor and change agent.

· Translate business, technical and non-functional security requirements into pragmatic solution options, patterns, standards and architecture decisions.

· Assess security risks,



support threat modelling, architecture reviews, audits and mitigation strategies aligned to security frameworks and customer approval processes.

· Shape secure solution designs across cloud services, APIs, IAM, DevOps, containers, automation and contemporary integration patterns.

· Contribute to scoping, estimation, delivery planning, quality review, documentation, knowledge sharing and broader consulting activities that support client outcomes.

Essential Capabilities, Behaviours, Skills or Experience

· Alignment with Vescient’s values of Integrity, Courage, Teamwork, Respect, Initiative, Leadership, and Loyalty.

· Proven senior or principal-level Security Architect experience in complex commercial, government, regulated or enterprise ICT environments.

· Demonstrated capability leading secure-by-design architecture, assurance and governance across applications, cloud, infrastructure, networks, integrations and operational environments.

· Practical experience applying security frameworks, standards and controls such as ISO 27001, NIST, ACSC Essential Eight, WA Cyber Security Policy, SABSA, TOGAF or equivalent.

· Demonstrated experience supporting Essential Eight maturity uplift initiatives, security control implementation and remediation programs.

· Experience with threat modelling, architecture review, risk assessment, control selection, risk treatment, security assurance, privacy and data protection.

· Strong understanding of security across cloud, identity, networks, applications and contemporary integration patterns.

· Ability to weigh security, business, cost, usability, performance and compliance trade-offs and provide clear, practical recommendations to senior stakeholders.

· Demonstrated consulting capability,



including client engagement, facilitation, stakeholder management, advisory deliverables, mentoring and technical leadership.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex security concepts clearly to business, executive and technical audiences.

· Candidates must be based in Perth, Western Australia and be an Australian Citizen.

Desirable Experience

· Experience producing security architecture artefacts, including patterns, solution designs, decision records, control mappings, risk assessments and roadmaps.

· Experience supporting SOC architecture, SIEM strategies, security monitoring, detection and response capabilities

· Experience with cloud security, identity and access management, zero trust, secure configuration, logging, monitoring, encryption, network segmentation and infrastructure-as-code across major cloud platforms.

· Architecture-level knowledge of security technologies, DevSecOps, CI/CD, containers, API gateways, data platforms, automation and emerging technology security considerations.

· Experience with architecture and modelling approaches or tools such as UML, BPMN, use cases, domain models, Orbus, LeanIX or Abacus.

· Relevant qualifications or certifications such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, CISSP, CISM, CCSP, SABSA, TOGAF or cloud security certifications are highly desirable.
