First Step Support Services (FSSS) is an NDIS provider delivering disability support and allied health services across Geelong and Melbourne. We run a Therapy Assistant Program where trained therapy assistants deliver supervised, allied-health-designed programs to participants, currently across speech pathology and occupational therapy, with a new hypermobility/Ehlers Danlos Syndrome stream launching soon.

About The Role
We're looking for a Therapy Assistant to join our new hypermobility/EDS stream, supporting kids who are struggling with school, sport, or everyday fatigue because of joint hypermobility.

You'll work under the guidance of a supervising physiotherapist, delivering fun, engaging sessions built around strength, proprioception, body awareness, and joint range of motion, all designed to build capacity without wiping kids out. Think games and activities with a purpose, not clinical exercises.

This role would suit a Physiotherapy or OT student, or someone who has completed a Certificate IV Allied Health Assistance with an interest in hypermobility.

What you'll be doing

- Delivering individual sessions with kids according to a plan set by the supervising physiotherapist





- Building genuine rapport so sessions feel fun, not like "therapy"

- Tracking progress and feeding back to the supervising clinician

- Working within scope, and knowing when to flag something to the clinician rather than push through

What we're looking for

- Experience working with children (support work, allied health assistant, education, or similar)

- Comfortable with, or keen to learn about, hypermobility/EDS presentations

- Patient, playful, and genuinely positive with kids who might be having a rough day

- Reliable and communicative, you'll be trusted to run sessions independently within a supervised structure

- Lived experience of hypermobility, chronic pain, or neurodivergence is highly regarded, not required

- Current First Aid/CPR

- Reliable transport
