Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic – Full Time

Jays Airconditioning is a locally owned and operated business providing professional air conditioning and refrigeration services throughout Mackay and surrounding regions. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a qualified and experienced Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic to join our team on a full-time basis.

Position: Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic
Location: Mackay, Queensland
Employment Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week)
Salary: AUD $75,000 – $80,000 per annum plus superannuation

About the Role

The successful applicant will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, maintenance and repair of residential, commercial and industrial air conditioning and refrigeration systems, ensuring all work is completed in accordance with Australian Standards, manufacturer specifications and workplace safety requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Install, commission, test and maintain air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and systems;
- Diagnose faults and undertake repairs to refrigeration, cooling, heating and ventilation systems;
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and servicing of HVAC equipment;
- Interpret technical drawings, plans,



specifications and work orders to determine installation and repair requirements;
- Recover, handle and recharge refrigerants in accordance with environmental and regulatory requirements;
- Test electrical and mechanical components to ensure productive and safe operation of systems;
- Repair or replace compressors, motors, thermostats, control systems, piping and associated components;
- Complete service reports, maintenance records and other documentation accurately and in a timely manner;
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and complies with relevant legislation, Australian Standards and company procedures.

Essential Requirements

- Trade qualification in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration or equivalent;
- A minimum of three (3) years of post-qualification experience as an Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic;
- Current Refrigerant Handling Licence (RHL);
- Demonstrated experience in the installation, servicing and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems;
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics and specifications;
- Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills;
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.

Pay: $60,314.78 – $80,000.00 per year
