What You Will Be Doing In This Role

At the San, we take pride in providing not only top‑note medical care but also nutritious, well‑balanced meals for our patients. Our hospital kitchen is a vital part of our mission to promote health and healing, and we are looking for dedicated Kitchen Assistants to join our team on a casual basis.

Our casual Kitchen Assistants are primarily responsible for food preparation, meal plating, meal delivery to wards and clearing meals.



You’ll ensure the kitchen remains spotless and hygienic, clean dishes, and help organise storage areas. You’ll be supported by our great team, and work closely with chefs, nutritionists, and other kitchen staff to help assemble and deliver meals efficiently.

You will be part of our wider Food Services department which offers around 20 different Kitchen Assistant shifts each day of the year, all with diverse function, responsibility and shifts times.

Who We’re Looking For

- You’ll take pride in preparing meals that contribute to our patients' recovery and well‑being.
- You’ll adhere to strict health, safety, and hygiene standards at all times.
- You’ll be self‑motivated, always going above and beyond to provide excellent service to our patients.
- You’ll demonstrate excellent interpersonal abilities, communicating professionally and thoughtfully.
- You’ll be well organised with the ability to prioritise workload to meet tight time schedules when required.
- You’ll be dependable, committed, and able to work 3+ Mon - Fri casual shifts per week consistently.
- You’ll have full Australian working rights.

What To Expect

Successful candidates will be required to complete a range of pre‑employment checks and assessments. These vary and could include professional references, functional questionnaire, a national police check, working with children check, vaccination evidence, among others.
