QR_ is a subsidiary of ALTEN Group, a global leader in engineering and technology consulting, with over 54,000 employees across 30+ countries. QR_ is currently expanding its activity in Australia and we are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Brisbane team. Responsibilities:

Develop and manage system requirements, ensuring alignment with customer, contractual, and regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Define system architecture, interfaces, and functional allocations to support the integration of vehicle subsystems and capabilities.

Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure system requirements are successfully translated into design solutions.

Develop and maintain systems engineering artefacts, including requirements traceability, interface control documents (ICDs), and verification compliance matrices.

Plan and support system integration, Verification & Validation (V&V;), qualification, and acceptance activities.

Conduct systems engineering reviews, technical risk assessments, trade studies, and design assurance activities to support informed decision-making.

Manage system-level technical risks, engineering changes, assumptions, and issues throughout the product lifecycle.

Ensure compliance with Defence standards, customer specifications,



safety requirements, and systems engineering processes.

Provide technical leadership and collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to resolve complex system integration challenges.

Must Have

Minimum 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering within defence, automotive, heavy vehicle, or complex manufacturing industries.

Eligible for National Engineers Registration and to become a Chartered Engineer as required.

Experience applying systems engineering principles across the full engineering lifecycle, from requirements definition through to verification, validation, and acceptance.

Experience in requirements management, requirements traceability, and interface management using systems engineering tools (e.g., DOORS or Jama or Polarion).

Experience supporting system integration, Verification & Validation (V&V;), and qualification testing within complex engineering projects.

Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering defence, aerospace, automotive, heavy industry, or other complex systems.

Experience conducting technical risk management, trade studies, design reviews, and engineering change management in a configuration-controlled environment.

Proven ability to produce clear and well‐presented reports to a suitable quality and standard.

Experience in relevant CAD/3D software package (Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, Inventor, etc.).

Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision-making skills.

Ability to manage, prioritise and complete multiple tasks concurrently.

Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships at all levels of the business and Clients.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:





Bachelor’s degree ‐ Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics)

Ability to gain a Baseline Australian Security Clearance Nice to have:

Previous experience in the Australian Defence environment
