Technical Consultant

Due to continued business growth, our client is looking to add an experienced Technical Consultant to our Sydney team. This is an excellent opportunity for a well-rounded infrastructure professional who enjoys working across a diverse range of technologies and customer environments.

You'll play a key role in designing, implementing, and supporting modern IT solutions for our clients, with a particular focus on Microsoft 365 and Modern Workplace technologies. This position is ideal for an experienced Level 2 Engineer who has developed their skills within an MSP or managed services workplace and is ready to broaden their exposure into more complex mid-market environments.

The Opportunity

This role offers a balance of project delivery and technical support, with approximately:

- 60% Project Work
- 40% Technical Support & Escalations

Project Delivery (60%)

- Participate in infrastructure and workplace modernisation initiatives.
- Design and implement Microsoft Intune and Microsoft 365 solutions.
- Improve operational efficiency through automation and standardisation.
- Contribute to the development of technical standards, best practices, and documentation.
- Deliver end-to-end technical projects from planning through to completion.

Technical Support (40%)

- Act as a Level 2 escalation point for complex technical issues.
- Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis across customer environments.
- Implement long-term solutions and service improvements.
- Provide guidance, documentation, and knowledge sharing to colleagues and customers.

Key Responsibilities





- Deliver Modern Management solutions using Microsoft Intune and Microsoft 365, including device deployment, policy configuration, compliance management, and security enhancements.
- Support and troubleshoot modern workplace technologies, endpoint management platforms, and core infrastructure systems.
- Assist with infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and change initiatives while maintaining accurate documentation.
- Support hybrid and on-premises Active Directory environments where required.
- Maintain and troubleshoot Linux-based services and platforms such as Docker, HAProxy, OpenLDAP, and FreeRADIUS.
- Provide support across virtualisation technologies including VMware and Hyper-V.
- Work with networking technologies including enterprise switching, wireless solutions, SD-WAN, and Zero Trust architectures.
- Troubleshoot and support unified communications platforms, particularly Microsoft Teams and 3CX.
- Take ownership of technical projects and ensure successful delivery from initiation through to handover.

About You

Experience

- 3-5+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure support, or technical consulting roles.
- Previous MSP experience will be highly regarded.

Modern Workplace & Microsoft 365





- Strong experience administering Microsoft Intune, including:
- Device management
- Compliance policies
- Security baselines
- Update management
- Application deployment
- Endpoint security and hardening
- Exposure to traditional endpoint management methodologies using Active Directory and Group Policy is advantageous.
- Solid understanding of the broader Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including identity, endpoint management, and security services.

Technical Skills

- Working knowledge of PowerShell for administration, troubleshooting, and basic automation tasks.
- Experience supporting Windows Server environments, Active Directory, virtualisation platforms, and storage technologies such as SAN and NAS.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across networking technologies, including switching, routing, and firewall concepts.
