The Opportunity Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Trade Assistant (Mechanical) will support preventative maintenance, servicing, repairs, and general workshop operations to keep our production facility running safely and efficiently.

This role is ideal for someone with a mechanical background looking to further develop their skills in an industrial environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will be responsible for supporting the mechanical team with tasks including:

Assisting with general workshop operations and routine maintenance.

Supporting the servicing and repair of plant and equipment to manufacturer standards.

Completing start-up and shut-down tasks in designated production areas.

Preparing skids, rollers, and equipment for daily production.

Reporting hazards, improvements, and opportunities for better work practices.

Using hand and power tools safely and effectively.

Following all safety, LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out), and compliance procedures.

About You Performing other duties within your skill level as required.





Essential Good mechanical aptitude with relevant hands-on experience.

Solid safety awareness and a solid safety record.

Ability to use hand and power tools confidently.

Understanding of basic mechanical processes and LOTO systems.

Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

Reliable and organised, with strong attention to detail.

Desirable

Welding experience (MIG/TIG/Stick).

Basic fabrication skills.

Forklift or EWP licence.

Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or food processing environments.

Basic computer skills.

Experience handling chemicals or operating in a process establishment.
