Job Summary The Traffic Operations and Compliance Coordinator is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and delivery of traffic management activities across construction projects.
This role plays a key part in ensuring all traffic operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory requirements. The position requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders including site teams, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Traffic Operations Coordination
· Coordinate and support the delivery of Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) across multiple project sites.
· Liaise with Project Managers, site supervisors, and traffic control teams to ensure smooth daily operations.
· Monitor traffic control activities to ensure alignment with approved plans and site requirements.
2. Compliance and Documentation
· Maintain and manage all traffic-related documentation, including permits, approvals, TMPs, and SWMS.
· Ensure all traffic operations comply with local council and regulatory standards.
· Prepare documentation for audits, stocktakes, inspections, and compliance reviews.
3. Budget and Financial Oversight
· Track traffic management costs and ensure alignment with project budgets.
· Assist with account reconciliations and purchase orders.
· Support the preparation of cost estimates for traffic-related works.
4. Schedule Coordination
· Develop and maintain traffic staging and scheduling in line with construction programs.
· Coordinate with our Allocations Manager, subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams to minimise disruption and delays.
· Identify and escalate risks to timelines relating to traffic management.
5. Communication and Reporting
· Act as a key point of contact for all traffic design and compliance matters.
· Prepare and distribute weekly, and monthly reports on traffic activities.
· Coordinate meetings and ensure action items are tracked and completed.
6. Stakeholder Engagement
· Liaise with clients, councils, and relevant authorities regarding traffic management requirements.
· Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and traffic control providers.
· Represent the company professionally across all interactions.
7. Risk and Safety Management
· Identify risks associated with traffic operations and support mitigation strategies.
· Monitor safety compliance and ensure adherence to WHS and traffic control standards.
· Assist in incident reporting and follow-up actions where required.
8. Continuous Improvement
· Support improvements to traffic management processes and systems.
· Contribute to the development of best practices and standardised procedures.
Qualifications and Skills
· Minimum 5 years’ experience in traffic management, designing/writing TGS and CTMP’s, construction coordination, or a similar role.
· Understanding of traffic control regulations and standards (highly desirable).
· Experience working with permits, TMPs, and compliance documentation.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
· Experience with project management or scheduling tools is advantageous.
· Strong organisational and time management skills.
· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
· Hold a valid PWZ license
